UNDATED (KDAL) – About a half million people are expected to take part in the Minnesota fishing opener this weekend.
This year the Governor’s opener event will be held in Mankato.
To coincide with Mother’s Day, Saturday and Sunday is also the “Take A Mom Fishing Weekend” where moms can fish without purchasing a license.
The Department of Natural Resources has established a fishing page on their website to help answer any questions from anglers at mndnr.gov/fishing.
The page also includes an online version of fishing regulations and a link to LakeFinder that provides maps and information on lakes across the state.
The DNR also reminds everyone to be safe while fishing and always wear a life jacket while in the boat.
